Trivia Rules
These are the house rules for a fair, friendly night. The goal is simple: play honestly, have fun, and keep the game moving.
Teams
- Teams can be any size, but very large teams may be asked to split if space is tight.
- Enter the number of players honestly when signing in.
- Solo players get 1 bonus point.
Scoring
- Scores are raw scores, except for the solo-player bonus.
- Team size is only used as a tie-breaker.
- If tied teams have the same number of players, the written tie-breaker decides it.
Phones
- No looking up answers during play.
- No texting friends for help.
- Use your device only for submitting answers or checking the trivia app.
Answers
- Spelling usually does not count unless the question specifically asks for it.
- The host has final say on accepted answers.
- If a question has multiple valid answers, the host may accept any fair match.
Attendance Prize
- Player count may also be used for a separate attendance prize or draw.
- Each player can count as one ballot or attendance point, depending on the venue format.
- This prize is separate from trivia score, so bigger teams are welcomed without changing the game.
